Privacy Policy for UncDoIt Site Guide
Effective Date: March 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the UncDoIt Site Guide Chrome Extension ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you understand exactly how your data is handled.
1. Information We Collect
To provide you with visual step-by-step guidance on websites, our extension interacts with the pages you visit and the data you provide. We collect and process the following:
- Page Context: We read the Document Object Model (DOM) of the webpage you are currently viewing when you activate the guide. This includes text, buttons, links, and input fields to understand the page structure.
- Voice Data (Optional): If you use the voice-to-text feature to speak your goals, we capture audio through your microphone.
- Extension Settings: We store your configured API Backend URL and temporary step-by-step guide progress.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Providing the Guide: Your page context (interactive elements and text) and your written/spoken queries are used to generate accurate, context-aware visual overlays and tooltips.
- Voice Transcription: Your voice data is used strictly to transcribe your spoken words into text queries so the extension understands your goal.
- State Management: Settings and progress are stored locally on your device to ensure guides can seamlessly span across multiple page loads.
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
The core functionality of UncDoIt relies on an external API backend configured by you (the user). All page context and audio data collected by the extension is sent exclusively to the API Base URL you have configured in the extension settings (e.g., your local server or chosen remote endpoint).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Data is processed solely for the purpose of generating the steps and transcriptions you request.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your configured settings and guide session checkpoints are stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage and SessionStorage. We do not maintain a central database of your browsing history or queries.
5. Your Choices
- Microphone Access: You can revoke microphone permissions for the extension at any time via your browser settings.
- Backend Control: You have full control over the API URL handling your requests. You may process data locally by running your own instance of the UncDoIt backend.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
